The Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF is the largest fundraising event in Canada supporting type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. This year, we are celebrating 30 years of progress, commitment and improving lives. This June, join the Walk and register in a community near you.

A: With many payment options available, and to keep costs low, to direct more funds to research, JDRF has decided to not accept cash or cheques at the Walk. 
A: JDRF has several secure methods to receive donations for the Walk. You can:
  • Donate with a credit card or PayPal by clicking HERE
  • Enter any cash or cheques donations in the Offline Funds section of your Participant Centre
  • Donate via e-transfer or EFT by contacting your Walk Support Team at 1.877.505.5373​ 
  • Contact our Walk Support Team via phone at 1.877.505.5373​ to make a payment with your credit card.
  • Or, visit our Offline Funds section for more details how JDRF can assist you in processing cash and cheque pledges. 
A: Most Walk sites will have light refreshment options available or have food onsite to purchase but JDRF does encourage Walkers to "BYOP" or bring your own picnic to the Walk and make a fun, family day out of the event.

Though every effort is made to provide food for all dietary restrictions for our Walkers across the country, we cannot guarantee that options to suit all dietary needs will be available at all Walk sites and encourage you to come prepared with alternatives.  
A: If you don’t see a Walk in your community or want to fundraise in your own way, you can register to Walk Your Way in your own province or territory. Register, fundraise and participate in the Walk anytime, anywhere and in any way: the choice is yours, and every step you take is a step closer to the cure. Have further questions? Registration

A: Click on the register button in the top right of this screen and follow the prompts to register yourself and your Team!
A: There is no registration fee to participate in the Walk but as a key fundraising event for JDRF, we encourage all Walkers to raise a minimum of $125.
A:

No, you do not have to register your entire Team; however, we encourage all members of your Team to register online with their own email to ensure that they receive details about this year’s Walk.  

If you choose to register your Team Members, they will receive an email guiding them through the login process to take control of their account.

Click the register button on the top right of your screen, search for the Team you wish to join using the search box. Select your Team name, click "Join this Team", then follow the instructions to register!

As a Team Captain, once you have registered and created your team, select Login at the top right of your screen and follow these steps:

  • Click on “Email” on the navigation on the left of your screen
  • Select the “Join My Team” message template
  • Enter the email addresses of Team Members and an email will automatically be generated inviting them to register. Team Members can click on the link provided within the email and follow the steps to register.

Fundraising

Yes! Our online system is a secure site and fundraising online is the most cost-effective way to raise money in support of the Walk.

The Sneaker Club members are Walkers who have fundraised a minimum of $1000. CLICK HERE to see our 2023 Sneaker Club members.

Fundraising Rewards

A:

Participants who raise $125 or more are eligible to receive fundraising rewards. You can learn more about our Fundraising Rewards program HERE.

To be eligible for fundraising rewards, all fundraising dollars must be submitted to JDRF by July 21, 2023, but donations can still be made online or via our Offline Funds process until the end of the year.

JDRF is proud to offer e-gift cards to a variety of merchants as our fundraising reward of choice. The e-gift cards are entirely paperless. After your donations have been processed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to redeem your e-gift card this fall. To learn more about Fundraising Rewards, CLICK HERE.

Team fundraising efforts will automatically be included in the Team Captain's fundraising totals when calculating the qualifying amount for e-gift cards. For example, if a Team Captain raises $250, a Team Member raises $125, and the Team receives an additional $500 in donations, the Team Captain will receive fundraising rewards for $750 ($250 + $500) and the Team Member will receive rewards for $125.

JDRF pays for all fundraising rewards but negotiates discounts nationally on purchased prizes. To help JDRF direct more funds to research, participants can donate their rewards back to the organization.

Thank you for your outstanding fundraising! Individuals are awarded a maximum of $500 in e-gift cards.

Absolutely. You are welcome to share your fundraising rewards with your team if you wish.

Offline Funds

A:

Donations and Tax Receipts

To see who sponsored you, click Login on the top right of your screen.  Click on “Donations” on the left-hand side menu to see a summery and details of your online fundraising success.

A: Absolutely. You can simply click on the Donate button on the top right corner of this page or contact our Walk Support Team at walk@jdrf.ca or via phone at 1.877.505.5373.

Online tax receipts will be issued immediately for all amounts to the email address provided during the online donation process.

Offline tax receipts will be issued within six to ten weeks after the event for donations of $20 or more.

To receive a tax receipt, the donor's name and address must be completed and legible. The tax receipt will be issued to the Donor’s Profile Name, not to the Name on the Credit Card. The donor profile name is assumed to be the true donor for tax receipting purposes.

Corporate or company donations must include a contact name to direct the tax receipt to.

A: Yes. Participants that qualify for an e-gift card will have the option to donate their e-gift card back to JDRF and direct more funds for research. To donate your e-gift card back, follow the prompts in the Fundraising Rewards email that will take you to an option to donate back your rewards. You will be emailed your tax receipt immediately once you have fully processed the request with the on-line system. Note: tax receipts will be issued in the name of the participant who qualified for the fundraising rewards and are non-transferable.
