The JDRF House ParT1D for a Cure presented by Omnipod is an exciting new concept for JDRF! We are inviting everyone to be part of Canada’s largest virtual house party and help us turn type one diabetes into type none. This one-day, family-friendly, virtual, interactive house party rallies those affected by T1D to unite, get loud, and raise funds to accelerate the pace of T1D research. Register today and start fundraising at jdrfparty.ca.

Although we have decided against hosting the in-person 2020 Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF, we hope to transition back to in-person events in the future. We will continue to monitor and update you on the status of our 2021 events as more information becomes available.

A:

The fall in-person walks have not been changed at this time. We encourage you to sign up for the event listed in the fall and will communicate directly with you should there be any changes specific to your walk location.

With the change in plan for our spring events and the uncertainties about what our fall event schedule will look like, we have set the date of July 1st to determine whether in-person events in the fall will be moving forward or not and in what format.

A:

We are still committed to finding a cure for T1D. Now more than ever, we must continue our fundraising efforts to support the short and long-term needs of people living with T1D and their families.

Choose one fundraising challenge that you can complete at home – then encourage friends and family to support you on your mission to end T1D. Once you join the JDRF House ParT1D for a Cure you’ll be able to live stream your challenge and share it with the entire T1D community! Here are some examples:

  • Challenge – Commit to a physical activity/challenge to show your support. You can run a marathon on a treadmill, cycle 100km on your stationary bike or commit to 50 push-up per day until your event!
  • Create your own fundraiser - Set up a bead-a thon, a virtual dinner with friends, or virtual trivia night. Turn your favourite fun activities into fundraisers. The possibilities are endless!
  • Celebrate - weddings, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, or any other special day by asking friends and family for contributions to your campaign in lieu of gifts.

Your fundraising efforts still go towards JDRF’s mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. You can continue to fundraise on your current page until the end of this year.
